I tried several of their Starmont wines, with my favorite being the
2004 Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a blend of 86% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, which
held everything else together.

Frei Brothers Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The big winner for
me was the Gloria Ferrer Carneros Merlot; I liked the Frei Brothers
Cabernet Sauvignon and the MacMurray Ranch Merlot quite a bit, too.

South Africa tasting
Lindemans South Africa Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were
on display, and Ed liked all three of them. The Shiraz and Cabernet
Sauvignon were both what Ed would typify as "drink-now wines"--fruity,
friendly, un-intimidating, but well-made and well-balanced.
